A LETTER FROM CANADA

I got a envelop from Canada yesterday.

I appreciate Lynne Merryland and her friend who lives in Canada.  

This project will exhibit at my solo exhibition from 13th- 18th March.

However it does not mean the project had finished.

It will be continued to the project.

So please remember this my work if you are a part of the postal project.

Every time I'm waiting your letter that I entrust helper who I've met in England. 

A frame was made.

I made a acrylic frame for a puzzle.
This frame can show you a whole image of the puzzle
if it will not be able to complete. And the frame has white
guidelines and it makes possibility to put disjointed pieces
of the puzzle in the frame. I'm still waiting other pieces
that someone has it in somewhere in the world.

Reasons behind the project 02

I want to add a puzzle into this project as another element. 

This idea is based on my previous work. I have made a work using a puzzle. That concept was the difference of between the image of the ideal and reality.

We know what is necessary for the ideal world and how to make the world ideal.

But we can't achieve this. This is like a puzzle which we can never complete though

we can see a form of its completion. How should we achieve the thing indicated in the puzzle?

The relationship between a work and a viewer shows that we only put up an ideal without seeing

reality.

I think this is a good opportunity to embody my thinking. 

A process of making  work in this project is to make use of my situation. And also I can feel my past existence in England when I get a letter in Japan. I take a photo during my stay in England. It makes a memory which means something has finished. I want to save something not just a memory but something that has continuity. To put it simply not image but reality. So this project would play a role in realizing my existence and evidence too of me.

Reasons behind the project 01

I was collecting used tea bags during the Autumn term.

Because I thought I can use a used tea bag as a material to make a work.

And also I wanted to establish a relationship between Japan and the UK. I chose 'Tea' as a key to consider in my work. Because tea is from Asia. At the beginning I was interested in the amount of used tea bags, Because they represent British and Britain. But I reconsidered about collecting used tea bags again. And I realized that the important thing in the process was the collecting of the used tea bags. I got  those tea bags from SU bar and English school and my housemates.　

It means there is a cooperator. And also it means I ask or communicate with someone to give me used tea bags. Now I see how important all this was, before taking my next step which is that I got an idea to develop links of communication.

It is generally called mail art(postal project). 

I thought of  sending  a used tea bag as it is. But it doesn't have enough space if I want to get some message on it. So I thought of making paper from used tea bags. Making paper is quite a usual activity in Japan. And also paper is from Asia too.

 I hope I get some thing unpredictable because it is could be fun.
